研究领域
年龄相关性黄斑变性(age-related macular degeneration, AMD)是一类威胁中老年人生活质量的不可逆致盲性眼病。其发病率随年龄不断上升,在80岁以上老年人中超过50%。随着中国人口老龄化的加剧,将造成社会和经济的严重负担。根据AMD的临床表现形式,将其区分为两大类:干性AMD,主要表现为视网膜色素上皮(retinal pigment epithelium, RPE)的退化变性和黄斑区感光细胞的死亡,也称为地图样萎缩(geographic atrophy,GA)或萎缩性AMD(atrophic AMD);湿性AMD,主要表现为脉络膜新生血管,也称为渗出性AMD(exudative AMD)。目前,湿性AMD已经可以通过抗VEGF疗法得到控制,但是干性AMD依然缺乏有效的治疗手段。本课题组致力于揭示脂褐质沉积与RPE及感光细胞死亡退化、炎症之间的相互联系,为开发治疗干性AMD的新疗法提供依据。
